15 December 2017 Military Pay

One more payday before Christmas, and thanks to today's continuing resolution, it looks like we don't have to worry about whether or not we'll get paid on time. The next regular, active duty military payday is Friday, 15 December 2017, though many service members will see that pay in their bank accounts earlier due to early crediting policies at their bank or credit union.

If you don't know that your bank or credit union offers early crediting, often called early direct deposit, then you should expect to see your pay at some point on Friday, 15 December 2017.

USAA

USAA credits pay deposits one business day prior to the actual payday. For this payday, that will be Thursday, 14 December 2017

USAA pay deposits can be credited at any time during the day; while they are often posted in the early morning, that isn't always true.

Service Credit Union

Service Credit Union credits military pay deposits two business days prior to the actual military payday. For this payday, that will be Wednesday, 13 December 2017.

Navy Federal Credit Union

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) offers early crediting of military pay deposits to only one type of checking account - Active Duty Checking.  NFCU members who use an Active Duty Checking account for their military pay deposit will see their pay pending on Wednesday, 13 November 2017, to be posted overnight and in your available balance on Thursday, 14 December 2017.

NFCU members who use any other type of checking account will see their pay pending on Thursday, 14 November 2017, to be posted overnight and in your available balance on Friday, 15 December 2017.

If you're not sure what type of checking account you have, you can check online, call them, or stop by your local branch.  If you're eligible for an Active Duty Checking account, and you don't have one, switching is fast and easy.

Pacific Marine Credit Union

Pacific Marine Credit Union (PMCU) credits military pay deposits two business days prior to the actual military payday. For this payday, that will be Wednesday, 13 December 2017.

While I know it is hard to be thinking about next year, the pay period during the second half of January is going to be exceptionally long - 20 days. If at all possible, you might want to put aside a few dollars to get through that long stretch between paydays.
